CMP Media's TECHXNY and National Cristina Foundation Partner to Build A Stronger New YorkNew Initiative Encourages Businesses to Donate Used Computers and Peripherals To NYC's Nonprofits and Public AgenciesPRNewswire TECHXNY and the National Cristina Foundation are challenging the business and computing industry to support an important NYC initiative for helping to build a stronger New York City. On the TECHNXY web site (www.technxy.com) as well as during the trade show and conference, September 16-18, 2003 at the Javits Center in New York, corporations are being asked to donate their used equipment to the National Cristina Foundation. The non-profit organization will direct these computer technology resources to New York based non- profits and public agencies that need them to increase their capacity to help people in need and lead more productive lives. "Now more than ever it is important for New Yorkers to band together and help one another. By partnering with NCF during TECHXNY, we are making the technology community aware of this important and worthwhile initiative to build a stronger New York. We have worked with NCF for many years and feel their mission is extremely important and worthwhile," said Christina Condos, show director of TECHXNY. In paying special tribute to the nonprofits and public agencies that make an important difference to the citizens of New York City, the National Cristina Foundation has chosen six partner organizations (that are part of the Foundation's nationwide grassroots partner network) to serve as representative of the programs that receive technology support through the Foundation. "We have selected organizations," said Dr. Yvette Marrin, President of the National Cristina Foundation, "that illustrate how technology plays an important role in training people to become employed, to support educational goals, and to empower their communities. During TECHXNY you will be able to talk to these inspiring groups and find out how you can help others like them gain the power of new life options through computer re-use." The New York city groups that will be at TECHXNY include: George Westinghouse High School, Hospital Schools Program, Charles B. Rangel Technology & Learning Center at the Armory, Henry Street Settlement, New Alternatives for Children, and The Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
