CMP Media's (NASDAQ: CMPX) "InternetWeek," the leading networking newspaper, has formed strategic sponsorship agreements with the Internet Society (ISOC) to become the official domestic-publication sponsor for ISOC's INET'99 conference and with The Burton Group to become the sole sponsoring-publication partner for its Catalyst 99 Conference. In addition, InternetWeek has signed Jamie Lewis, president of The Burton Group to write a biweekly column.

According to Patricia Schnaidt, publisher of InternetWeek, "these agreements with ISOC and The Burton Group are part of InternetWeek's strategic plan to align the brand with the most important influencers in the networking and Internet markets. They strengthen InternetWeek's franchise and allow us to bring valuable insight and content to our readers. Both of these organizations provide key information to the marketplace and we'll be right there with them helping to educate IS and networking professionals who are applying Internet technologies to transform their enterprise networks."

INET is the premier event in the Internet industry and provides an international platform at which the world's leaders and pioneers of cyberspace meet to exchange experiences, share information and plan the next steps that will shape the future of the Internet. INET'99, to be held June 22-24 in San Jose, Calif., is expected to attract an estimated 3,000 attendees from more than 100 countries.

Catalyst focuses on strategic networking issues. Run by The Burton Group, a highly reputable IT consulting firm specializing in directory, security, messaging and other networking technologies, Catalyst will host a select group of network and IT managers -- key decision makers at Fortune 500 companies -- at Lake Tahoe, Calif., July 11-14.

"This is a synergistic partnership because our attendees come to Catalyst 99 to gain a practical understanding of the issues surrounding the on-going evolution of the network platform which is closely aligned with InternetWeek's editorial mission," said Gary Rowe, executive vice president, The Burton Group.

"Jamie Lewis will be a terrific addition to the publication as our newest columnist," said Rob Preston, InternetWeek's editor-in-chief. "He has a wealth of knowledge in areas that are critical to InternetWeek's IS/networking readers like operating systems, directory services and security. We're excited he's joining our editorial team."

Lewis, as president of The Burton Group, plays a pivotal role in the firm's research meta-directory services, network operating systems, messaging systems, directory services and network security. Before co-founding The Burton Group in 1990, Lewis was manager of strategic marketing at Novell.
