Jay Shutter Joins CMP's Enterprise Computing Group as Director of Database Research and Technology

CMP Media Inc.'s Enterprise Computing Group -- publishers of InformationWeek, CommunicationsWeek and Network Computing -- has named former IntelliQuest executive Jay Shutter its Director of Database Research and Technology, a new position.

In his new role, Shutter, former Director of Operations at IntelliQuest, Inc., will develop an integrated database system that supports the group's research endeavors -- including its Internet-based research panel, as well as its online registration and customer information systems.

In making the announcement Jeffrey L. Strief, Senior Vice President/Group Publisher, the Enterprise Computing Group, said "Jay's hands-on experience in developing innovative database technologies will allow us to take the extensive research and database services we already offer our customer to the next level via new integrated programs."

Shutter, a technology industry specialist, coordinated all aspects of IntelliQuest, Inc.'s Technology Panel -- a 15,000 member research panel of corporate technology buyers and users in the U.S. and Europe -- since its inception in 1993. He first joined IntelliQuest in 1992 after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with an MBA in Marketing of Technology, Market Research. Shutter held a number of positions at the research company including Senior Manager, Customer Identification Division.

Working out of Austin, Texas, Shutter will report to Robin Rather, Vice President, Research for the group. "With Jay on board, CMP will be able to employ the latest in database technology to provide technology marketers with up-to-the-minute information services that help them more effectively reach today's IT buyers," she said.
