Light Reading and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) announced today that US LEC Corp.'s Jeffrey Blackey will provide the keynote address on January 26, for the second installment of the GLOBALCOMM™ 2006 Master Class Series. Join the analysts and editors of Light Reading and Heavy Reading for a look into how competitive local exchange carriers are using innovative IP services to win business customers in increasingly competitive local markets. The series provides a preview of the critical industry issues to be covered at GLOBALCOMM 2006, June 4-8 in Chicago.

The GLOBALCOMM 2006 Master Class Series was created to help the industry understand how carriers are rising to the challenge of migrating their underlying physical and service infrastructures to meet the demands of the next-generation IP network. Each Master Class features a speaker from a leading service provider or enterprise on a topic vital to the industry, explaining how his or her organization will address this particular challenge.

Rick Thompson, Heavy Reading Senior Analyst, will introduce the keynote speaker -- Jeffrey Blackey, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for US LEC -- at the second GLOBALCOMM 2006 Master Class at 6:00 p.m. on January 26 in the auditorium of the historic AT&T building in the heart of downtown Manhattan.

Blackey will deliver a 40-minute lecture exploring how carrier networks continue to evolve from circuit-switching to packet-switching -- focusing particularly on the ways in which carriers can offer next-generation services to the enterprise with scaleable, cost-effective IP-based voice and data solutions.

A question-and-answer session will follow Blackey's remarks. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served until 8:30 p.m.

Join us at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26. Registration is free for press and analysts. Register today! http://www.lightreading.com/live/masterclass
