The CMP Game Group, producers of the industry-leading Game Developers Conference (GDC), are adding a GDC London event to the recently announced London Games Festival. The GDC joins with ELSPA (The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association), TIGA (The Independent Game Developers Association) and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), who have created a week-long cultural and business celebration of video games in London. The London Games Festival will combine key events throughout the Capital from Monday, October 2, 2006. These events include the London Games Summit produced by ELSPA and TIGA, the TIGA Content Market, and BAFTA's British Academy Video Games Awards. GDC London will take place October 3-4 at 195 Picadilly, BAFTA's headquarters, and will focus exclusively on advanced techniques in game development.

The GDC brings its relationships with top industry leaders to GDC London. GDC's director Jamil Moledina, with the support of GDC's European advisory board, will create a conference unique and unmatched for its global reach and attention to UK specific development issues. The London event will build on the 2006 GDC theme of "What's Next" by featuring discussions on key next- generation console issues.

Jamil Moledina, director for the Game Developers Conference, noted, "The GDC is excited to join the major UK game organizations as part of the London Games Festival. We know this week of critical events will bring unity to the UK games community and underscore the importance of the UK in the worldwide games industry."

Rob Cooper, Managing Director Northern Europe and Export, Ubisoft UK, said, "GDC bringing their world-class developer event to the London Games Festival adds another primary event to the week and exemplifies the game industry unity that ELSPA, TIGA, BAFTA, and the London Development Agency are building in the festival."

Fred Hasson, CEO of TIGA, added, "TIGA welcomes the GDC brand signing to the London Games Festival. The Game Developers Conference is known for its high-quality speakers and sessions, and for insider knowledge and will bring a welcomed international dimension to the mix of events many organizations are beginning to plan for the London Games Festival."
