Rob Preston has been named Editor in Chief of InformationWeek. Preston, who held senior editorial management positions at InformationWeek in the mid- 90's, succeeds Stephanie Stahl. He will be responsible for leading the editorial team as it breaks new ground in business technology journalism, solidifying InformationWeek's position as the leading technology newsweekly. Preston will also continue in his role as Editorial Director for CMP's Business Technology Group. After five years at the helm of InformationWeek, Stahl has been named Editor in Chief of Streaming Media for CMP's Central Web Team. In this new role, she will retain strong links to the InformationWeek community of audiences and vendors while focusing on building out a portfolio of rich-media products including video/IPTV, webcasts, video blogs, podcasts, and other new content types. Filling Preston's position as Network Computing's Editor in Chief will be current IT Architect Editor in Chief Art Wittmann. IT Architect will be closed following its March issue. Wittmann will continue to evolve many elements found in IT Architect and incorporate them into Network Computing; IT Architect's content will continue to be served online. Wittmann served as Editor of Network Computing and wrote its "On the Edge" column in the mid- 90's. In related news, CMP's Light Reading division recently announced the launch of Dark Reading, an online computer security portal. Launching on May 1, Dark Reading's content will merge both the editorial found in Secure Enterprise magazine as well as TechWeb's Security Pipeline. The new security site will aggregate content developed by InformationWeek, Network Computing, CSI (Computer Security Institute), Black Hat and other CMP sources, as well as provide original content. Secure Enterprise will cease publication of the print edition after the March issue. Beginning in June, additional Secure Enterprise content will be incorporated into a quarterly security supplement to Network Computing magazine, reaching a circulation of 220,000 corporate and IT managers.
