CMP Media's Communications Convergence to Publish Bi-Monthly in 2004

CMP Media LLC announced today that Communications Convergence, its enterprise telecommunications magazine, is changing its frequency from monthly to bi-monthly in 2004 to better address its customers' needs. The new six-time schedule will be bolstered by a quarterly NetSeminar series and digital delivery of the publication. Circulation will remain at 40,000.

"Marketers of enterprise telecom products need three things: buyers without wasted circulation, a platform for branding and sales leads," said Ruthann Fisher, group publisher. "This focused program offers all three."

Fulfilling the demand for sales leads, the new program will provide advertisers with leads generated by NetSeminar viewers and the registration data from a digital version, or eBook, of the magazine.

Rick Luhmann, general manager of CMP Media's CommWeb, will become editor-in-chief of the magazine, more tightly integrating its content with the web offerings. Luhmann previously served as editor-in-chief from 1994-1999 and prior to that, he was editor-in-chief of Teleconnect. Current editor John Jainschigg will become editor emeritus, writing regularly for Communications Convergence and handling special projects.

"The enterprise telecom space continues to innovate and recover, which sometimes gets lost in the larger telecom market problems," said Luhmann. "This publication and the NetSeminars will continue to provide information to help the enterprise make informed buying decisions of telecom products and services."

The NetSeminars and eBooks will be marketed in the publication and online on CommWeb, and CMP's flagship portal, TechWeb.

The first issue in the new format will be January/February 2004 followed by the first NetSeminar broadcast in March, focused on Business Contact-Center Phone Systems.
