Michael Neubarth Joins CMP as Editor-In-Chief of NetGuide Magazine

Michael Neubarth has joined CMP Media's PC Group as Editor-in-Chief of NetGuide Magazine, announced Kenneth D. Cron, President of Publishing.

Neubarth, a computer industry journalist and analyst for the past 10 years, joined CMP from Mecklermedia, where he was Editor-in-Chief Internet World magazine.

"Michael has been covering the Internet and watching its development since before its explosion as a ubiquitous business tool," said Cron. "His respected voice in the industry and breadth of knowledge about the Internet coupled with his keen understanding of the challenges and opportunities it presents are going to bring an added dimension to NetGuide Magazine," he said.

From 1989 to 1993, Neubarth was an analyst covering advanced technologies at the Meta Group, a computer industry research and consulting firm in Stamford, Conn. He also held senior editorial positions at PC Magazine and MIS Week.

Neubarth replaces Tony Rizzo who is leaving the company but who will serve CMP in a consulting capacity.

A graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in English Literature, Neubarth received his MA in English Literature from Columbia University. He lives in Wilton, Conn.

NetGuide Magazine registered the strongest February ad sales performance among the 17 consumer titles covered by Computer Publishing & Advertising Report. According to the trade publication's March 17 issue, NetGuide Magazine was up 62.1% for February 1997, compared to the same period last year, and up 68.9% year-to-date.
