InternetWeek, CMP Media's networking newspaper, is expanding its successful Bandwidth Boom Series with a schedule of four IP-telephony seminars, "Making IP Work for You." The series debuts in New York on October 5.

The day-long sessions will address the issues driving IP-telephony technology, products and major applications such as international voice, fax over IP and IP-enabled call centers. Live, hands-on demonstrations on display at the conferences will highlight enterprise-wide IP telephony solutions.

Noted IP-telephony technology authority Robert W. Harbison will be among the industry experts participating in the seminars. Harbison, who has an extensive history in the computer industry, has developed unique insights into the newly evolving voice-over-net technologies that are enabling the convergence of existing voice and data networks. He is chief technology officer and cofounder of StarVox Inc., the developer of fully integrated network telephony solutions.

Other seminar series participants are Wayne Rash, InternetWeek's managing editor of technology.

"The IP telephony market is expected to grow from $75 million in 1998 to $600 million in 2000," said Patricia Schnaidt, publisher of InternetWeek. "Through the day-long sessions and live, hands-on demonstrations, attendees will be better able to assess how to maximize IP technology solutions and its associated products and applications for their organizations' competitive business advantage. "

Following the October 5 New York launch, the series travels to Washington, D.C., October 13; Chicago, October 19; and San Francisco October 21. Charter sponsors are Cisco Systems, GTE Internetworking and StarVox. Registration information is available at 800-340-2011 or visit the web site at http://www.internetwk.com/IPT.

The IP-telephony seminars come on the heels of InternetWeek's successful Bandwidth Boom VPN Alliance Program held in April. More than 320 IT/network managers participated in that four-city series.
