Today, InformationWeek.com, announced the Listening Post (http://www.informationweek.com/LP), a revolutionary online forum where readers and journalists interact with each other. Using this new service, InformationWeek readers can participate in an online community by posting questions, comments and opinions based on columns and featured stories that appear on InformationWeek.com and in the weekly magazine. This new Web-based community enables readers and journalists to find out what their peers and other industry experts have to say about IT related trends, issues, and topics.

"The Listening Post serves as an online 'water cooler' for IT professionals. It's a place for us to discuss a variety of IT-related topics while networking with our peers," said Rusty Weston, editor, InformationWeek.com. "By offering this online community we are eagerly looking forward to the ideas and feedback our readers will provide."

The Listening Post allows InformationWeek readers, editors and columnists to read and respond to messages at any time of the day or night. The discussion area is organized into two sections: Talk Shop focuses on IT-related topics and issues, while Water Cooler covers topics of interest to our readers and journalists.

Participating in a Listening Post discussion is easy and intuitive. A reader clicks on the journalist's name, the article hotlink or the 'Listening Post' hotlink. After registering their name and email address, they can immediately post comments or ask a question. The discussion software is threaded to allow messages and replies to be posted in an organized structure.

Listening Post will feature well-respected CMP journalists, including Bob Evans, John Soat, John Foley, Clint Wilder, Judith Hurwitz, Rusty Weston, Herb Lovelace and Fred Langa.

The Listening Post is run by site editor and community manager Esther Schindler who brings 16 years of high tech experience to the new service.
