TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING magazine is pleased to announce the 2000 Teacher of the Year Award Program. The program recognizes and honors K-12 teachers who use technology in innovative ways to motivate students and enrich learning. The NetSchools Corporation will be the primary sponsor of this year's program and The Learning Company will continue its support as a contributing sponsor.

Entry nominations are solicited via a direct mail campaign and online at http://www.techlearning.com/. Teachers can fill out the entry form and submit a three-page write up detailing how they integrate technology into the K-12 curriculum, providing examples of student work or other sample activity materials. This information can also be presented by an administrator, colleague or parent nominating a technology-savvy educator. The application must be received by Friday, September 22, 2000.

"Each year TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING honors those educators committed to fostering growth and integration of technology in the classroom," said Judy Salpeter, editor-in-chief, TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING. There are so many teachers who use technology to inspire their students and this program allows these educators to be awarded for their efforts.

A panel of experienced judges, coordinated by TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING, will select state winners. Out of this group, four Regional Winners (East, West, Central, and South) will be chosen-one of whom will be selected as the National Teacher of the Year. All winners will be notified by October 13, 2000.

All State winners will receive recognition in TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING's November 2000 issue along with a one-year subscription to the magazine. They will also receive from The Learning Company a Carmen Sandiego's ThinkQuick Challenge and KidPix Studio 3rd Edition.

In addition, Regional Winners will receive all of the above prizes plus two state-of-the-art multimedia computers (one for the educators' personal use and one for their school), attendance (including travel costs) at the NSBA T + L Conference, an invitation to serve on TECHNOLOGY & LEARNING's Editorial Advisory Board, coverage in a spotlight article in the November 2000 issue of the magazine and a choice of one software product from The Learning Company.

The National Teacher of the Year winner will receive all of the above plus the following products from The Learning Company: the complete NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, Living Books Library, Stagecast Creator and The Complete CornerStone Reading Strand.
