CRN, the most trusted source of weekly news and analysis for solution providers, integrators and e-businesses driving the new economy, announced today the promotion of Steven Burke, a journalist with 20 years experience covering high technology and government issues, to CRN Editor/News.

In his new role Burke will be responsible for driving CRN's news operations and will report to CRN Editor-In-Chief, Kelley Damore.

"CRN's objective remains focusing on delivering breaking news and analysis on the products, services and programs that solution providers combine to build mission critical network and web-based solutions for small, medium and large businesses. Steve's talent, drive and desire to consistently achieve excellence will push CRN to new heights and help us consistently meet this objective," said Kelley Damore, Editor-In-Chief of CRN.

Commenting on his new role, Burke stressed the continuance of CRN's first mover advantage. "Historically, CRN has always been first to inform our readers about the critical products, services and programs they need to know about to be profitable in what is the fastest moving industry in the world," Burke said. "With the rapid changes in both technology and business models, it has become increasingly important, now more than ever, to make sure CRN delivers the most current and valued news of the who, what, where, when, why and how of building technology solutions."

Since joining CRN in 1993, Burke has held a number of key positions, first as a business reporter, then industry editor, culminating most recently as CRN Editor/Online.

Burke is a former daily newspaper reporter who began covering the technology industry and distribution business for Micro MarketWorld in 1984. Burke covered the early days of the exploding PC business, including Apple Computer Inc. and Lotus Development Corp., as a senior writer for InfoWorld. In addition, as a business reporter and editor for PC Week, he helped chronicle the astronomical growth during the late eighties of Intel Corp. and Microsoft Corp.

Burke started his career as a general assignment reporter for The Newton Graphic in Newton, Massachusetts and then moved over to The News Tribune in Newton, covering City Hall.
