Both ADC and GDC Next bring their respective industry's leaders together to share best practices and help developers fine-tune their crafts. ADC and GDC Next are produced by UBM Tech, creators of the largest and longest-running professionals-only event for the games industry, the Game Developers Conference (GDC), and will both run through Thursday, November 7. ADC is a brand new conference that centers on the very best development, UI, marketing and business of apps outside of games. GDC Next focuses on the future of the gaming industry, analyzing the game experiences of tomorrow. Both ADC and GDC Next aim to provide a wealth of knowledge, giving attendees an opportunity to gain valuable insight as they look towards the future of digital interactivity. ADC and GDC Next together offer more than 130 sessions from influential and distinguished companies within the app, game and entertainment industries, across multiple disciplines and tracks. Talks at ADC include those given by speakers from Evernote, Netflix, Pandora and Tumblr, while GDC Next will feature talks by Double Fine, Google, NBC Universal, thatgamecompany, Walt Disney Imagineering and several others. In addition, the combined Expo Floor features more than 60 of the top game and app companies exhibiting, including Google, Sony, Microsoft, Oculus VR, Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm and more, plus several exciting activities ranging from two Expo Floor Theatres where vendor sessions and other special presentations will take place, to vendor giveaways, to the Videogame History Museum's Museum of Portable Devices. A special feature of the ADC is the ADC Best in Apps contest, presented by way of a partnership with AppCircus, the unique global traveling showcase of the most innovative and creative apps. The contest will surface the most innovative emerging mobile applications and will be judged in four categories: Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Lifestyle and Education. Four finalists from each category will be pre-selected by an international jury and will present their apps to a panel of industry leaders in front of conference attendees on the ADC and GDC Next Expo Floor. A winner will be crowned in each category, and will receive a nomination for the prestigious Mobile Premier Awards, held by AppCircus during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early 2014. At GDC Next, show organizers will be honoring ten innovative, yet-to-debut games as the GDC Next 10. Each of the GDC Next 10 games will be the focus of a session at GDC Next wherein each game's designer will discuss the concepting, inspiration and design behind their title. Every GDC Next 10 game has been picked by GDC's organizers as a game to watch for the future, and a title that is doing something decidedly different in today's increasingly crowded game market. The games chosen as the GDC Next 10 are: Broken Age, Counterspy, D4, Doki Doki Universe, Project Eternity, Project Spark, Storyteller, Super Time Force, Supernauts and Wayward Manor. "We're very proud to debut two brand new conferences and give attendees additional avenues of inspiration to refine their skills as developers." said Meggan Scavio, General Manager of the Game Developers Conference events. "The creation of ADC and GDC Next is another testament to today's ever-changing technological age and we look forward to all of the fantastic learnings to come out of this week's talks given by the leaders of both the app and games industries." Both ADC and GDC Next will provide a backdrop for networking and creative exchange, and will confront topics that convey the significance of business logic, forward thinking, and technical skills when marketing and producing successful apps and video games. UBM recognizes the impact that business can have on the environment. To that end, both ADC and GDC Next have put a number of measures into place to reduce the environmental impact of the events, from replacing the exhibitor guide with a mobile app to printing the show program on 100% recycled paper and much more. UBM's media partners for ADC and GDC Next include Design3, FierceDeveloper, FierceMobileContent, GameDev.net, Kongregate and Inside Mobile Apps.
