FRAMINGHAM, Mass., July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- XChange Events, part of UBM Tech Channel, today announced the creation of the inaugural advisory board for the Women of the Channel Winter Workshop. The advisory board is comprised of vendors, solution providers and consultants in the IT Channel industry. Members include: Jennifer Anaya, Ingram Micro; Laura Atchison, Wisdom Learned LLC; Tricia Atchison, Symantec; Tiffani Bova, Gartner; Carolyn Cox, VMware; Brooke Cunningham, QlikTech; Heidi Dethloff, IBM; Jeannine Edwards, ModernOffice Suite; Jackie Funk, Dimension Data; Marie Rourke, WhiteFox Marketing; Janet Schijns, Verizon; Lydia Smyers, Oracle; and Florence Sullivan, Juniper Networks.

The women selected are influential executives who have demonstrated a desire to help mentor women executives as they navigate the challenges and opportunities in today's channel market. Many have participated in Women of the Channel events and have been featured on CRN's Women of the Channel list. As members of the board, these individuals will help guide both content and format to continuously improve the workshop. In addition, the board will evaluate event options for young women in support of STEM, the initiative designed to encourage the exploration of careers in technology fields.

"The Women of the Channel Winter Workshop is a unique event where women in IT can come together to learn, network and find mentors. It's become so popular that attendees are looking to extend the opportunity to share knowledge and best practices all year long," said Lisa Mackenzie, SVP of Events at UBM Tech Channel. "With the advisory board's guidance, we can help support women in technology leadership roles beyond just the workshop and provide a forum for ongoing communication."

"The growth of the Women of the Channel Workshop requires a committed group of advisors to help steer the content and the overall experience," said Robert Faletra, CEO of UBM Tech Channel. "We are honored to have such an impressive group of individuals working alongside us to make sure the event is a continued success."
