10,027 Veterans and Military Spouses Hired through Milicruit's 10,000 Jobs ChallengeGame Changing Approach to Traditional Career Fairs Makes it Faster and Easier to Connect Employers with VeteransDec 13, 2012 CHICAGO, Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Milicruit, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), DirectEmployers Association, and industry leading employers today announced the successful completion of the 10,000 Jobs Challenge for Veterans and Military Spouses. The goal of the 10,000 Jobs Challenge was to demonstrate that hiring veterans and military spouses is a constructive initiative and, through the help of employer partners, document 10,000 veteran and military spouse hires before the end of 2013. The Challenge kicked off on March 7, 2012 and by May employer partners had reported over 3,000 hires. As of December, over 10,027 hires have been reported to Milicruit, beating the original program deadline by an entire year. "We're thrilled to have sponsored and supported such an amazing initiative to help veterans and military families," said Kate Spellman, President of UBM Studios, the company that runs Milicruit. "Achieving our goal so far ahead of expectations is a testament to the commitment we all feel towards those who have served and supported our country. We couldn't ask for more fitting news during the holiday season." Milicruit will host an additional nationwide virtual career fair on December 19, 2012 that will feature more than 40 employers representing in excess of 24,000 jobs available. Service members and military spouses are encouraged to register today to reserve their space in these ground-breaking events at www.veteranscareerfair.com. Unlike a traditional career fair, the virtual career fairs allows employers to meet and interact with talent from all over the country/world in one day, and without the cost, burden or environmental impact typically associated with traveling to and from physical venues.
