ART BOSS aims to be the definitive annual showcase for artists working in the games industry and highlights all forms of artwork created during the production of a game, from concept to release. All videogame art, including, but not limited to, pre-production concept art, production art, and in-game assets can be submitted online with no entry fee required. Artists can submit their work for consideration via the official website, http://iam8bit.com/artboss/. ART BOSS is dedicated to honoring excellence in games industry art in all forms. Through its partnership with GDC, the ART BOSS exhibit will be displayed in the Moscone Center during the largest professional game industry gathering in the world, which is expected to see more than 27,000 attendees this year. Artists who have their work selected by a panel of artists and influencers on the ART BOSS jury, will each be rewarded with one complimentary GDC All Access pass. "Games are beautiful vessels for artwork, from textures and renders, to concept art and promotional collateral. Every element is an essential part of the whole; we're proud to work with GDC to showcase all of it," says Jon Gibson, founder and co-owner of iam8bit. "Just as GDC has inspired and connected thousands of the greatest game developers in the world, ART BOSS aims to honor and highlight visual artists for their passion and creativity." To recognize the dedication and craft of the artists, ART BOSS will put a face to their work by complementing each piece with a photograph and biography of each participating artist. Additionally, iam8bit will create a permanent archive for each piece in both digital and physical form, allowing the ART BOSS collection to be viewed and appreciated by the gaming community wherever they reside. In keeping with iam8bit's decade-long work in highlighting game art, ART BOSS will collaborate with game development studios around the world to ensure a growing and diverse collection every year. "GDC prides itself on the diversity of content and voices at the event, and our work with iam8bit and ART BOSS is no different, bringing together artwork from all phases of game development, including concept art, production art and in-game assets," says Meggan Scavio, General Manager of all GDC events. "There's no submission fee for ART BOSS, giving all artists a shot at showcasing their amazing work to an audience who shares an emotional connection to the art of game development."
