GTEC 2015 - October 19-21 - Shaw Centre, Ottawa

Appointed COO in February 2015, John A. Glowacki Jr. helps deliver on SSC's mandate to fundamentally transform how the Government manages its Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. Glowacki brings more than three decades of professional experience to his leading role at SSC, having served as a corporate executive, an independent advisor and a member of a non-profit board of directors. Glowacki served as President of JAG International and was a Corporate VP and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Computer Sciences Corporation, the third largest IT service provider in the world. He has advised the White House and other U.S. Government organizations.

Service Culture – More than Check Marks on a Page
SSC has accomplished a great amount in four years of operation, moving past the planning phase and now executing on its IT Transformation Plan. In his keynote address, Glowacki will outline the Department's new model and share how SSC is simplifying processes and developing a structure in which a dedicated part of the organization is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the services they provide. Glowacki will also provide insight on how this approach will help SSC further consolidate, standardize and re-engineer the way it does business with both its partners and industry.

"GTEC is excited to host John A. Glowacki Jr. given his leadership role in the largest IT organization responsible for delivering email, data centre and telecommunication services to 43 departments and agencies across the Government of Canada," said GTEC Executive Director Michele Lajeunesse. "Shared Services is a critical piece of the government's drive to bring the public service into the digital era — a topic which is core to the GTEC program."

GTEC Focuses on Revitalizing the Core (of IT)
In line with Glowacki's focus on service management and IT simplification, GTEC 2015 presents a full conference track dedicated to modernizing the vital IT systems that run organizations and support innovation. Many organizations are simplifying IT to help pay down technical debt, replatforming solutions to remove barriers to scale and performance, and extending their legacy infrastructures to fuel innovative new services and offerings. The track, "Revitalizing the Core (of IT)," will help delegates navigate their options and understand how their investments can drive enhanced service offerings.
